Warmer Kiwi Homes is a government grant run by EECA. It covers 80% of the cost of an approved heat pump, up to $3,000 including GST. You apply through EECA. To qualify you own and live in a home built before 2008 and either hold a Community Services Card or live in a lower-income area.

How the grant works alongside our install
We're not an EECA provider, so we don't administer the grant or lodge your application. You deal with EECA directly for that. What we do is the part you can see: we quote the job, supply the unit, and handle the heat pump installation in Hastings once your funding is sorted.

Choosing a heat pump that suits the grant
The grant covers an approved heater, and a good single-room heat pump for your main living area is the usual fit. We mostly install Daikin and Fujitsu, both of which handle frosty mornings well and are easy to service down the track.
For a smaller lounge in a Camberley unit, one of the compact Daikin heat pumps does the job without oversizing. For a bigger open-plan space out toward Waipukurau, a slightly larger Fujitsu heat pump makes more sense. We'll size it to the room rather than sell you more than you need.
What you'll pay after the grant
The grant covers 80%, so you're left with the other 20% plus anything the grant doesn't stretch to. Where that lands depends on the unit and how tricky the install is, and you can see the full picture on our heat pump installation cost page.
We'll always give you a fixed quote before we start, so there are no surprises once the grant amount is locked in. If your ceiling or underfloor insulation needs sorting first to meet the rules, EECA covers that side too, but that's a separate part of the programme from the heating.
